The second plot you'll come across (Operation: Final Fury) Encourages the formation of your first real fleet around a Frigate or Destroyer. Personally I would recommend starting with Terran Conflict, the various races militaries are less rampant, pirates and Xenon more abundant, and the various plots make an effort to teach you how to approach things like economy and military (plus one or two that hae neat stories in general). I know that albion has a lot less problems to it, but i don't know if it has a tutorial and how much plot i'll miss out on
